Today, I was looking for a picture of Matthew from last year to show him how much he’s grown. He turns 10 on Wednesday! While searching for the picture, I found a quote I saved to my photos.
“Life is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we react to it.”— Charles R. Swindoll
I know some people who blame their hardships for their bad behaviors and negative attitudes. In essence, they take their hardship and make it their negative outcome. I know others who work through adversity and look for an opportunity.
The difference in these people lies in how they react to adversity. Adversity in life is inevitable. Anyone can wave the white flag in defeat when things don’t go as planned. But others rise above and find an opportunity to turn a bad situation into something positive. That opportunity may not present itself immediately so it’s important to remain positive.
How can we stay positive? Learn what we can control in life and what’s out of our hands. How we react to a situation is a way to maintain control over it. Knowing the importance our attitude has on our experiences is empowering because we have a choice on how we react.
We have evolved into who we are now by life’s experiences and our reactions. Use past lessons to cope with present and future adversity.
I’ll leave you with this quote:
“Show me someone who has done something worthwhile and I’ll show you someone who has overcome adversity.”— Lou Holtz
Update
Two bags went out last week. One to a woman facing a serious illness and one to her Mom who is taking care of her.
As always, thanks for your donations. Together we’re providing hope through social support.
