Learn About Raising Resilient Kids

I’ve mentioned before how much I read after Mike died. One of my go-to blogs was by Michelle Steinke-Baumgard. She lost her husband in a plane crash. She’s a great writer, but more importantly what she writes is real. She doesn’t hold back and she tells it like it is. Her words 100 percent resonated with me.

Here’s an excerpt from her blog post about building resilience in children:

I’ve learned that loss comes in many forms for our babies, often too young.

One in five American children experiences the loss of someone close to them by the age of 18, and one in seven children lose a parent or a sibling before they are 20. Additionally, 68% of kids are now living in non-traditional homes.

Our kids are being asked to live through deeply emotional and stressful experiences so how do we help them grow, evolve, get stronger and thrive after the unthinkable…

After reading her post. I became obsessed with the topic. Not only because I needed to make sure my kids would be OK, but because all kids these days are under a lot of stress. Youth sports are extremely competitive and school is demanding. Kids face more disappointments than I ever did. But in general we’re not giving them the right tools to cope.

The MRP Project’s Raising Resilient Kids Educational Series

If you’ve explored my new website, you’ll know that coming in 2020 I’m rolling out the next MRP Project Program: Raising Resilient Kids. I’m currently developing the curriculum in consultation with licensed social workers. I can’t wait to roll out this class.

If you’re interested, stay tuned. I’ll be capping the attendance for the first series at about 12 people.

Update:

A bag went out this week to a woman who lost her boyfriend in a tragic work accident. We hope our bag gave her a boost. As always thanks for your support of The MRP Project.
