This week a bag will go out to a woman who lost her mother. We hope our bag of your donated items will give her a boost and brighten her day.

This week’s featured donation is an aromatherapy eye mask. I love it for three reasons.
- Puffy eyes are the norm when you’re grieving. If you leave the eye mask in the freezer overnight, the eye mask will help soothe and relieve puffy or tired eyes.
- The mask blocks out light so it’s great for napping.
- The eye mask is scented with calming lavender.
One thing I learned when I was in the throes of grief was that I’d try pretty much anything to help curb my anxiety. I decided to give aromatherapy a try. I started sleeping with lavender under my pillow. I honestly don’t know if it really worked, but I always felt calm when I did it.
In doing some research, I found aromatherapy is thought to work by stimulating smell receptors in the nose. These receptors then send messages through the nervous system to the limbic system, which is the part of the brain that controls emotion.
To this day, lavender still calms me. Have you tried aromatherapy?
