Thanks to your generosity three more bags went out to a husband and wife who lost their son and to a single mom caring for an elderly parent and a very sick child.
One of our recipients said that the bag really brightened her day! It’s this type of continuous, positive feedback that makes me extremely grateful for all of your donations. The MRP Project couldn’t provide these emotional boosts without you!
I wanted to share a quote that I really like. I don’t know who said it, but I agree with their mentality about grief. The quote is:
Healing from grief is not the process of forgetting, it’s the process of remembering with less pain and more joy.
So what do I like about this quote? There are two things that resonate with me. One is that grief is referred to as a process. The second is the implication that healing from grief doesn’t mean moving on or forgetting.
I like to refer to grief as a journey. I believe as we move through our grief journey we begin to heal by integrating the loss of our loved one into our lives.
I will never forget Mike, stop missing him any less, or stop feeling sadness when I think about him. But as I integrate his loss into my life, thoughts and memories of him are no long disabling or preoccupying. I can slowly move forward as the quote states “with less pain and more joy.”
Thanks for supporting The MRP Project. Together, we’re making a difference by providing hope through social support.
