Importance of Sleep
We’ve all heard that a good night’s sleep is important. Sleep helps reduce stress, makes your memory sharper, keeps you alert, and that’s just a few of the many benefits.
All of you who know me well can attest to the fact that I’m a sleep proponent! Whether it’s getting eight hours of sleep at night or napping during the day, I’m a true believer that sleeping makes you feel better!
Sleep is even more important when you’re grieving. Grief makes you feel overwhelmed and tired. Why? Because your body is trying to make you slow down. The death of a loved one is an enormous shock to the system especially if it’s a sudden death. Trust me when I tell you that trying to do anything in the early days after Mike died was difficult. But when I was sleep deprived, it was nearly impossible. I always felt better when I had enough sleep. The operative word is enough. Too much of anything is not a good thing. Everything in moderation!
With that being said, sleep was (and still is) a coping mechanism for me. Many people view sleep as a necessary evil. I encourage you to embrace it and prioritize it. Then get out of bed and do something that brings you joy.
Featured Item: Bedtime Tea

This week’s featured item is bedtime tea. It’s an herbal supplement tea that helps you sleep. I’ve talked to many people in throes of grief who can’t sleep. I’ve had good luck with melatonin and bedtime tea. Because I believe so much in the importance of sleep, I will try to include melatonin and/or bedtime tea in future bags.
Last week, two bags went out to a mother and daughter who lost their son/brother who would have been in college next year.
