Did you know that 45% of what you do each day is done out of habit. That means you hardly even have to think about it. You automatically do things as part of a routine.
I thought about this information in terms of self-care. Last week, I had a conversation with a friend. She said self-care is something she wants to do, but never finds the time to do it.
What’s a great solution for setting aside time for self-care? Make it a habit. Add whatever self-care option you want to do into a daily routine. Start with something reasonable. Commit to doing it for 2 weeks. Then you can start adding on once it becomes a habit.
For example, if you want to start doing yoga daily, commit to 10 minutes each day for three weeks. Add these 10 minutes to an existing routine. Let’s say you typically get up, brush your teeth, and shower. Try getting up, brushing your teeth, practicing yoga for 10 minutes, and then taking a shower! Also be patient. If you don’t do it one day, don’t abandon the practice. Try again the next day.
Try it. And let me know how it goes!
