The MRP Project Card Line Is a Go!

Thanks to all of the comments, messages, emails, and texts. I’m so excited that everyone loves The MRP Project card idea as much as I do! I’ve put a team together of a few volunteers to get this initiative off the ground. We’re planning to meet in the coming weeks so if you have any ideas about what types of cards you’d like to see (and you haven’t already shared it with me) please send along! Two bags are going …

Question for You

After Mike died, I received a lot of cards in the mail. Everyday when I went out to my mailbox, I was overwhelmed (in a good way) by the sheer volume of cards! It was so comforting! And something I will never forget. In fact, I kept each and every one of them to show the kids when they’re older. I’ve been thinking about creating a line of cards as part of The MRP Project. Nothing fancy just a couple …

Building resilience video

[Building Resilience] Watch this 3-Minute Video

I recently came across this video about building resilience. While it’s intended for caregivers of grieving children due to a death, the information is applicable to many different situations. Our children grieve when parents divorce. They grieve when their worlds are turned upside down due to a pandemic. So being able to build resilience within our children is key. And it all starts with our resilience as the caregiver. If this topic interests you, learn more about our Raising Resilient …

Thank You

We asked…you answered. Thank you to all of the people who donated much-needed items for men’s bags for a boost. We really appreciate it! Check out the donations below.

Need Items for our Men’s Bags for a Boost

We’ve had an influx of nominations for men’s bags for a boost. As a result, we’re getting low on items. I know, I know… It’s just like buying presents for guys. They’re much harder to buy for than women. But I have a few ideas. Check out the picture below. Also, don’t hesitate to reach out for more ideas! Learn more about bags for a boost.

A Really Cool Story…

I’ve talked many times about how our loved ones send us signs. But I’m also starting to see how they orchestrate things from above. As a result, I believe there aren’t as many coincidences as we think. I don’t expect everyone to believe that Mike had a hand in the following story. And that’s OK. Either way, it’s still a really cool story.    About a month ago, an MRP Project volunteer delivered two bags to a couple who lost …

Raising Resilient Kids Educational Series Begins September 23

I’m thrilled to announce the Raising Resilient Kids educational series begins on September 23! This program is the second piece of my vision for The MRP Project!   What’s Raising Resilient Kids Educational Series? Raising Resilient Kids is a social support program for parents. The goal is to help parents ensure their child can positively and productively overcome life’s obstacles. The series highlights the essential role obstacles play in children’s development. The facilitators discourage parents from trying to “fix problems.” Instead, we …

Find Out if You Have a Gift Card Coming Your Way

I think we’ve all realized that 100 people in one place isn’t happening any time soon. So, unfortunately, we’ll be cancelling the first annual MRP Project fundraiser event at Pinecrest Golf Course.   In the spirit of social distancing, we’ll be distributing a gift card to Anthony’s on the Green for $25 per person for those that were going to attend the event. Mike at Anthony’s has been wonderful to work with and we couldn’t think of a better way to …

[Resource]Tips for Helping Grieving People: What to Say and Do

When someone dies in your community (especially when they’re young), it’s hard to know how to support the family. People tend to worry they’ll say or do the wrong thing and will end up upsetting the grieving family. I used to be one of those people so I know the feeling. That’s why it’s important to create and share resources for helping grieving people. Why? Because there’s no manual for how to handle these situations. And everyone’s grief is unique. …

Fact: 45% of What You Do Each Day Is Done Out of Habit

Did you know that 45% of what you do each day is done out of habit. That means you hardly even have to think about it. You automatically do things as part of a routine. I thought about this information in terms of self-care. Last week, I had a conversation with a friend. She said self-care is something she wants to do, but never finds the time to do it. What’s a great solution for setting aside time for self-care? …

Thanks for Sharing Your Signs from Above

During the last couple of weeks, I’ve discussed signs sent from our loved ones above. I asked you to share some examples with me. And I received some great stories. Thank you!  The best part about the list I’m going to share is that some of these signs came this week! I received 3 signs from loved ones since my last post.  Signs, Signs, Everywhere Signs The most consistent sign Mike has sent me has been pennies! I got one …
