Signs, Signs, Everywhere Signs

Last week’s post about signs from above was so popular that I wanted to write about signs again.  Some of you shared your stories with me. Thank you! I loved all of them. Most of the stories were about cardinals, which has always been a popular sign from loved ones who have past. But I want to hear more (comment on this post, email, or text me) because there are some people out there who want so badly to see …

Signs from Above

Last week we were out of town all week watching Matthew compete in a national baseball tournament for 10-year-olds. It was a great family vacation and a valuable learning experience for Matt. And the best part is I never have to wonder if Mike is aware of what’s going on in our lives. We received 3 amazing signs that I wanted to share.   A couple months ago Matt had to choose three numbers for his jersey. His last choice …

Almost Everything Will Work Again if You Unplug It…

Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you! — Anne Lamott   I love this quote because it’s speaks to one of my favorite topics: self-care. Take a moment for yourself. Try and commit to at least 30 minutes a day for you. Unplug for awhile. You’ll be surprised at how much better you feel after.

Meet the Raising Resilient Kids Facilitators

Raising Resilient Kids is The MRP Project’s educational series for parents who want to ensure their child can positively and productively overcome life’s obstacles.  This six-week series, starting September 16 in Hopkinton, MA, will highlight the essential role obstacles play in children’s development. The facilitators will discourage parents from trying to “fix problems.” Instead, we’ll discuss specific behaviors, thoughts, and actions to help children cope with their feelings in a specific situation. These strategies can then be used to help deal …

Can Your Child Positively and Productively Overcome Life’s Obstacles?

How many times have you told your child life isn’t fair? It may have been when your daughter didn’t make a sports team or when your son didn’t get recommended for the honors math class. Or more recently, has your child had trouble adjusting to our new normal resulting from COVID-19 or is he/she having difficulty understanding/coping with tragic acts of racism? If your answers aren’t a resounding yes, keep reading. Merriam-Webster defines resilience as “the ability to recover from …

Not Gonna Lie, This Is a Hodge Podge of Thoughts

Last weekend, my family and I left town and went on a much needed vacation. Since we didn’t have baseball to distract us on May 26, we spent the day on the beach. While it wasn’t easy, the ocean helped. I took comfort in the sounds of the kids’ laughter as they played in the surf and the feel of the salt on my skin as I floated in the rocking waves. But the most therapeutic part was the normalcy …

3 More Bags Will Be Delivered to Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Plus a Quote I Love

Through our partnership with Minuteman Building and Preservation, Inc., three more bags will be delivered to the Brigham and Women’s COVID unit. We hope our bags bring these medical professionals a much-needed boost. Thanks for all of the donations specifically for these bags. We appreciate it. Here’s a quote I heard recently and absolutely love. For a seed to achieve its greatest expression, it must come completely undone. The shell cracks, its insides come out, and everything changes. To someone …

Just Breathe

I hope all of the mothers out there had a wonderful mother’s day. For all of you (like me) who have school-aged kids, this is a trying time. Remote learning at all levels from Kindergarten to college is a brand new experience that we’re all trying to help our kids navigate. Plain and simple…It’s hard! Some days (like today) I feel like I’m ready to lose my mind! And I have to remind myself to breathe. I decided to look …

We Are All Grieving the Loss of Normalcy

As the days and weeks of quarantine go by, I’m seeing more and more people who are grieving. People are dying from the virus and other causes. And this is terrible under normal circumstances. But things aren’t normal right now. Collectively, as a nation, we’re all grieving the loss of normalcy. Our life as we knew it has been turned upside down. And that, in and of itself, is hard to deal with. But adding in all of the secondary …
